About Your Builder, David Baetge

David Baetge was born in Melbourne in 1947. He studied both Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the Gordon Institute of Technology.

While working in the corporate environment, David completed an Economics Degree and built his own mud brick post and beam home. The experience captivated him and changed his life. He resigned from his corporate job and began designing and building post and beam homes, an activity that he has continued and still enjoys to this very day.

David is a registered Energy Assessor with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria. He is a Corporate Member of the Earth Building Association of Australia (EBAA) and has been the Executive Officer of this organisation. He has represented EBAA on committees involved in designing earth building standards for Australia and New Zealand and also the Australian Building Codes Board responsible for energy efficiency provisions in the Building Code of Australia.
